On this blog...

So, what is this blog for? To be honest, I don't quite know myself. Some time a few months ago, I had the urge to create a blog where I can just ramble about things that are interesting to me. Maybe some people would read it, and I could have some interactions with strangers that share my interests. At first, I thought I would make this a blog with album reviews or similar things, but then I thought that album review blogs already exist all over the internet, and who really cares if one more guy thinks the new JPEGMAFIA is a light 8 or a strong 7? Unless maybe that person has something interesting to say besides the score they slap on whatever piece of media they are talking about. So then I started to think about putting more long-form pieces here, maybe some thoughts on certain genres I like or maybe some collected histories on those types of subjects. Then I had a thought about how hard it would actually be to come up with a really original idea for that type of post.

Ultimately, I decided for all and for nothing: this blog will just be fully freeform and might include music reviews (not with a score system, though, since I find that that usually takes away from the discussion more than adds to it), introduction packs to certain genres, random thoughts on pieces of media ranging from books to music to movies to whatever I'm consuming at the moment. Maybe I will even post some creative writing—who knows? For now, it's just throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. To maybe narrow down the possible media discussed here, you can probably somewhat narrow down my tastes by the name of this blog and the picture used. In terms of music, I really can't say what to expect, but really everything from pop music to harsh noise is a possibility.
